BOWLS NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COMPETITION RULES

1. All Competitions shall be played in strict accordance with Bowls England Championship/Competition Rules & Regulations and the
  current Laws of the Sport Crystal mark edition.
 
2. All competitions shall be played on approved greens.

3. The named player in each county competition shall purchase a yearbook for that year. The remaining entrants shall purchase the
Competition Draw Book containing the Rules governing the competitions.

4. Competition entries must be returned with appropriate fees to the Treasurer by the A.G.M.

5. Entries for U/25s 4 wood Singles, 2 wood Singles, 4 wood Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours shall be from the same club. New
  members to a club must pay the subscription for the year in which the competition is to be played prior to entry. Finalists will represent
  the county at the National Championships; failure to comply may result in a ban from entry to all county competitions for a period of up
  to two years. Winners are expected to represent the County at the M.C.B.A. Champions Championships. (Men Only)

6. The draw will be made by the competition committee, minimum three persons, during January.

7. Dates for the completion of rounds shall be set by the appropriate competition committee. Rounds not played on fixed dates,
  challenger must offer two dates seven days before closing date of round. For second and subsequent rounds up to the last 16 in the
  Competition the Challenger must contact their Opponent within 48 hours of the end of the previous round and offer two dates.
  Failure to do this may result in disqualification. Players unable to play on a fixed date may play prior to the fixed date by
  agreement. These dates must be strictly adhered to unless re-arranged by the Competition Secretary or Competition Coordinator.
Dates may be offered during the County Tour week but players shall request an alternative date if on the County tour.

8. Starting time 6.30 p.m. or by mutual agreement can be played earlier butnot later than 6.30pm Competitions to commence at a time
agreeable to both parties unless covered by Rule No. 7. If a player is more than 30 minutes late, the defaulter shall forfeit the game to
the player who turned up to the appointed venue at the appointed time. Singles challenger to provide a competent marker.

8a. Payment of any green fees is the responsibility of the home team/player(s)

9. A player drawn to play on a green not approved for county competitions shall play on an approved green of the home player’s choice

10. In the event of inclement weather and the green keeper/club official declares the green unfit for play the tie must be played prior to
  date of next round.

11. Dress in the early stages to be grey with white or registered club colours above the waist.

12. Final stages will be played on greens determined by the appropriate competition committee and on dates and times set by them.
  Dress for final stages .White trousers (men) White skirt tailored or cropped trousers (women) along with white or registered club
  colours. The representative of the controlling body can disqualify any player/rink considered to be improperly dressed.
   Players representing the county at the National Championships will be required to wear County colours.

13.  County Champion of Champions competition (men & women). To remain separate competition for each gender. The Competition
  is open to the previous singles champion of all Affiliated Clubs provided that any competitor shall be restricted to one entry in any year.

14. U/25s pairs (women only)

   The competition shall be open to all full lady members of affiliated clubs and players must be under 25years of age on April 1st of the
  year of the competition and may be from different clubs.

  The competition shall be on play by dates until the final.

  It shall be played to 18ends.

  The Pairs winners only will represent the County at the National Final.

15. Secretaries /Treasurer’s Cup. It is to remain a separate competition for each gender.

  Men Only.

  The competition shall be open to the Secretary, Treasurer and Fixture Secretary. Holders of the following offices of BN management
  Committee; Secretary, Treasurer, Match Secretary, Competitions Secretary, Greens Inspectorate Secretary, Benevolent Fund
  Secretary and H.V.P.B.A. Secretary Treasurer may enter if not a club Secretary / Treasurer
 
  Women Only.

  The competition shall be open to the Secretary, Treasurer and Fixture Secretary. Holders of the following offices of BN management
  Committee; Secretary, Treasurer, Match Secretary, and Competitions Secretary may enter if not a club Secretary / Treasurer

  a) An entrant who no longer holds office on May 1st following the entries shall no longer be eligible to compete, but the entry may be
  transferred to the new holder of the office.
  b) Dates may be offered during County Tour week but players may request an alternative date if on Tour with the County

16. The Fred Hodge Open Triples.
  Open to serving Officers of B.N. and Management Committee menbers of all affiliated clubs. Three triple teams allowed per club.
  Two substitutes may be used in this competition provided they have not played in another team, where an entrant no longer holds office
  on the 1st May in the year of the competition the position may be filled by the new holder of the office

17. Women's County 55 & over Singles and Pairs.
  To be eligible to enter this competition a player must have reached her 55th birthday by the 1st April in that year.
  Fees shall be paid as other County Competitions
  The dates for rounds to be play as "play by dates" Finals shall be held on Competitions Finals Days.

18. Women's County Top Club Competition
   The competition shall be open to all Clubs affiliated to Bowls Northamptonshire.
  Players are not required to play from the club in which they play their County Competitions. Bowls England Rule 58.2
  The club side shall consist of 10 playyers. The disciplines are four wood Singles(21 shots), four wood Pairs (21 shots), three wood
  Triples (18 ends), and two wood Fours (21 ends)
  Games shall be played on set dates but may be played earlier provided both teams agree.
  Failure to field 10 players will result in a walk-over.
  Bowls England Rule 58.6 and 5.7 Top Club competition shall apply.
  Finals shall be played on the President's green or a neutral green if necessary

19. Patrons Cup Competition
  Bowls Northamptonshire Patrons Day shall be held annually.
  Dress shall be Club Uniform/greys. County Officers and Past Presidents shall play in County uniform
  Bowls England Patrons Rules for play on the day shall apply.
  Players who participated (men and women) shall be listed in the BN Yearbook as Patrons of Bowls Northamptonshire

20. Women's Benevolent 2 Wood Triples Competition
  The team shall consist of 3 players from the same County and must be affiliated members to the County.
  The game shall comprise of 2 woods per player and 15 ends. All ends must be played as the total number of shots for and against
  determine the eventual winners at National level.
  Two substitutes may play in any one team provided they have not played in another team.
  All rounds to be played on the set dates of play on a knock-out basis. The scorecards will be retained by the Competition
  Secretary.

21. Johns Trophy and Walker Cup Double Rink - Women's Inter Conty Competition
   A Team Manager shall be appointed by the Women's Management Committee in accordance with criteria laid down prior to the
appointment and will be for a period of three years. In the event of there being no suitable candidate the Selection Committee shall
assume responsibility for the procedures and team selection.
Players and Reserves for the Johns Trophy and Double Rink Teams shall be invited to represent the County in the competitions and
must make themselves available for a minimum of 3 of the 4 round robin rounds and Regional Finals. Players shall make themselves
available for 'Trial' matches (minimum 2)
24 players and 2 reserves shall represent the County in the Johns Trophy and 8 players and 1 reserves in the Double Rink team. The
reserve(s) and the Team Manager must travel with the team with at least one selector.
  In all rounds of these Inter County Competitions arrangements for bearing the costs and other incidental expenses are a County
  domestic matter and the green fees and umpire's expenses shall be equally shared by both Counties competing.
  Inclement weather:- Bowls England Rules and Regulations Nos 54 & 55 (9) shall apply.

22. Middleton Cup, Double Rink and Midland Counties League - Men's Inter County Competitions
   A Team Manager/Chairman of Selectors shall be appointed by the Men's Management Committee in accordance with the criteria
  laid down prior to the appointment and will normally be for a period of three years.
  In the event of there not being a suitable candidate the Men's Competition Committee shall assume responsibility for procedures and
  and team selection.
  The Team Manager shall conduct the affairs of the Senior Squad in accordance with the Rules and Constitution of Bowls
  Nothamptonshire.

  ALL PLAYERS SELECTED FOR JOHNS TROPHY, MIDDLETON CUP, DOUBLE RINKS, AND MIDLAND
  COUNTY LEAGUE MATCHES, MUST ATTEND WEARING FULL COUNTY REGULATION DRESS AND PLAY IN
  THE APPROVED COUNTY COLOURS.

23. Amy Rose Under 31 Double Rink - Women's Inter County Competition
   A Team Manager shall be appointed by the Women's Management Committee annually. Duties shall be to encourage
  participation in the sport by younger players by arranging coaches and matches.
  The Team Manager shall conduct the affairs of the Under 31's in accordance with the conditions as defined by the Women's
  Management Committee and in accordance with the Rules & Constitution of Bowls Northamptonshire. Duties will be strictly
  adhered to. If and when required the Team Manager will be invited to speak at a Council Meeting.
